List Server for Corinth/Topsham and Surrounding Community

List Server Website
One of The Local Resource Network's goals is to create and enhance local communication and commerce. We have set up a very simple listserv for the Topsham/Corinth area and surrounding towns for just that purpose. Think of it as an e-mail bulletin board. Once you are signed up, you will receive one e-mail a day (assuming at least one person posts something) with all of the messages combined. This is called a digest version.

And you can post something to the whole list. If you are aware of a local event coming up that others might want to know about, ("Pond Skim at Northeast Slopes on March 26th, conditions permitting" or "I have extra eggs to sell this week, contact me..."), you can make an announcement to everyone on the list.

To subscribe to the list, just send a blank e-mail to: lrn-subscribe@lists.valley.net

You will get an e-mail back asking you to confirm that you would like to sign up and a link to click on.

It is that simple.

Still not sure? E-mail Rob Rinaldi (quietinvermont@gmail.com), or John Morris (morrisvt@tops-tele.com) and we will try and answer your questions.

The Cookeville Mall

The Corinth Conservation Commission and the Local Resource Network operate the Cookeville Mall, a free “New to You” shop for the local community in Corinth. The Mall is located in the Cookeville Post Office building to the left of the entrance to Northern Woodlands. Started in mid-August, 2010, the Mall has been open on Saturdays (10-11 a.m. in the winter starting in November; 8a.m. to noon starting in May for the summer)

The Mall now has a Food Court outdoors with locally made or locally grown products for sale.

We have learned about other communities that have successful shops like this, where people can donate used household goods and items they no longer need. Other people take them home and put them to good use. It is a good way to get rid of things that are cluttering your basement without going through the hassle of organizing a yard sale, or worse yet, throwing them out. And these items may be exactly what your neighbor has been looking for, but didn’t want to buy new.

The Cookeville Mall will help keep perfectly usable items out of the landfill and provide useful items to people who need them.

The shop will be staffed each Saturday for picking up and delivering goods. It’s important that items are dropped off only during business hours. So take a look in your attic or basement for small and medium sized items that are in good working condition but that you no longer need. Please, no clothing and no computers, printers, TVs, or other large electronic devices.

Everyone can take what they need – for free.

Keeping Track Training Program

Susan Morse, of Keeping Track, is offering a 7-day training session for people in Corinth and the surrounding area. There will be one full-day training session each month on a Saturday or Sunday, beginning in October 2011 and ending in April 2012. Three programs will be at Wolf Run in Jericho, Vermont, and three will be in Corinth. In addition, Sue will come to Corinth for two evening potluck supper programs. Participants are taught a scientifically-based data collection methodology in the form of track and sign surveys and are expected to look for and document wildlife signs in a particular habitat following the training.

There is a cost for the training, but efforts are being made to keep it to a minimum. For more information about Keeping Track, go to http://www.keepingtrack.org/index.html. For more information about the Corinth training, call Linda Tobin at 802 439 6305.
